An independent record of a city's streets
FixMyCity is a free app for Bengaluru. You photograph a problem on a street — a pothole, an overflowing bin, a footpath slab that has gone — and it becomes a public entry with a place and a date on it that stays readable months later.
Why it exists
A complaint is a sentence, and a sentence is easy to close. A photograph with a date is evidence, and when several neighbours put their names to the same one it stops being one person's opinion about one street.
What it is not
It is not a government service, and it is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by any government body, office-holder or political party. Posting here does not lodge a complaint with any authority — it creates a public record that you and your neighbours can point at.
We show your MLA and your MP because each has an official register behind them that we can link to, and we link to it beside the name. Everything we could not source that way, we left out.
How it pays for itself
By donation, and not much else. There are no advertisements, nothing is sold, and your reports are not anyone's product — the server, the maps and the storage are paid for by people who use it and decide it should keep running. You can chip in if you want to; nothing in the app changes if you do not, and a donation buys no feature, no priority for your reports and no say in what gets fixed.
If that ever changes — advertising, a paid tier, anything doing with your data — it will be said here and in the privacy policy before it happens, not after.
